GLENN LLOYD SHINE

Glenn Lloyd Shine passed away peacefully at CAMA Woodlands Long Term Care Home in Burlington, Ontario, on Friday, July 18, 2025, at the age of 90.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary Joan (née Deir), with whom he shared 41 loving years of marriage.

He will be dearly missed by his children Ann (Dean) Krajcar, Elizabeth Larsen, and Patrick (Laura) Shine of Burlington. Glenn was a proud grandfather to Matthew, Lauren, Elliott, Sarah, and Oliver. He is survived by his brother Bill (Evelyn) and was predeceased by his sister, Fern, and brother-in-law Bob Moffatt. He was Uncle Glenn to many nieces and nephews.

Glenn was born and raised in Fort Frances, Ontario, and moved to Southern Ontario as a young man to pursue new opportunities. He began a rewarding career in the field of biomedical engineering in Kingston, Ontario, where he met his wife. Their careers brought them to Atlanta, Georgia, and they started their family before settling in Hamilton, Ontario, where he had over 25 years of service at McMaster University. They retired back to Kingston and eventually Burlington.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Glenn’s life and the interment of his ashes will be held at a later date in Gananoque, Ontario.

The family wishes to extend a very heartfelt thanks to the staff at CAMA Woodlands for the care and compassion they gave to Glenn. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Diabetes Canada would be deeply appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Smith’s Funeral Homes, Burlington (905-632-3333).
