Lake of the Woods High School seniors were to meet yesterday morning to decide if they would continue plans for a class trip after a 18-year-old classmate died Tuesday in a car accident.
Bobbie Sue Larson of Baudette died from injuries sustained in the 9:52 p.m. accident in western Koochiching County, according to Koochiching County Sheriff’s Department officials.
She was driving a car on Koochiching County Road 18 with passengers Crystal Sue Landin and Victor Steven Ballard, who also are both age 18 and Baudette High School students.
Landin also was injured and taken to Lakewood Health Center hospital. Her condition was stable at press time yesterday.
Ballard was treated and released, according to a sheriff’s report, which also said none of the occupants were wearing seat belts.
Landin was cited for illegal consumption, according to another report. The accident remains under investigation.
Baudette seniors were scheduled to leave on their class trip Wednesday night.
The community also is mourning the death of Jason Tiller, 22, who died recently in a car accident in which he was not wearing a seatbelt, according to a hospital spokesman.
Tiller’s funeral is today, he added.
