Christin Thomson probably would be the first to say she’s had more fun on the links than what took place last weekend.
The Fort Frances native, a member of the inaugural St. John’s Red Storm women’s golf team, finished tied for a season-low 65th overall in the individual competition at the James Madison University/Bonnie Hoover Invitational tournament in Harrisonburg, Va.
Thomson, who has had four top-20 finishes in her freshman season with the Red Storm, carded rounds of 89-81-88 for a three-day total of 42-over 258, matching teammate Tracy Bolger and St. Francis (Pa.) University’s Lauren Cascino.
As a team, the Red Storm managed a 10th-place finish in the 17-team field with a score of 135-over 999—well back of the host James Madison squad, which won the event with a 935 total.
St. John’s also was to have played in the Hofstra Invitational in Port Washington, N.Y. on April 7-8, but no scores were available at press time.
Thomson and her teammates next will hit the links at the Big East conference championships this coming Monday and Tuesday at Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind.
