Nielson comes home for visit

Mark Nielson, having completed his chiropractic education and one year of practice in Portland, has been home recently visiting his family before leaving for Australia where he has a position for three years.
He is flying to Perth where he will be met by a doctor from one of the clinics he will be practising in.

Chapple’s Heritage spaghetti supper was a great success congratulations to Jackie and Gerry Guimond and the other entertainers. I’ve been told it was terrific!

Thelma Hansen had knee surgery on April 16. She will be back home from Thunder Bay on the 26. She will be taking therapy on Wednesdays in Fort Frances, then later in Emo.

Off Lake’s Variety Night on Saturday (April 26) was well attended. The dinner was beautiful and guests were royally entertained with flutes, bells, singers, and a drummer. Pastor Rudy French of Clearwater delivered a great message.

Chapple Women’s Institute meets at the Emo Museum on Wednesday May 7. Museum opening tea and bake sale scheduled for May 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The rug hookers will meet on May 6 and 8. They have planned a “show and tell” to view the projects they made on May 8 at 2 p.m. with coffee at the museum.

The Brink in Baudette is featuring a pot luck sponsored by the First Federal Bank on Friday May 2 at 5 p.m. Dancing starts summer hours at 7:30. Guests are requested to bring a salad or dessert. The bank supplies the main course.

Emo Legion’s next dance is scheduled for May 10 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Seniors monthly pot luck will be Thursday May 15. The April meeting decided to keep the same executive. Anyone with ideas for activities or summer travel please bring them along.

Saturday May 3 from 8 a.m. to noon there will be a garage sale at the Esso Keylock on 5th St. in west Fort Frances. Any items you wish to donate may be brought to the Covenant church at Off Lake.

Covenant Women’s monthly meeting is on May 5 at Margaret Ferris’ at 1 p.m.

The mother-daughter tea will be held at Off Lake on Saturday May 10 at 7 p.m. Everyone welcome. Special feature will be a “Biblical Makeover” by Sandra Stalmach and her mother.

Weekly prayer meeting this week, Wednesday at Brad and Mona Hands at 7 p.m. Barwick Community Church is inviting everyone to come celebrate their church Centennial on Sept. 6 and 7. Guest speaker will be Rev. Tom Oshiro, former pastor in Barwick and Emo.

A noon luncheon and centennial banquet is planned for Sept. 6 at the Barwick Hall. Several former pastors are expected to attend.
