The minor hockey hardware cupboard is bare.
All levels of the Fort Frances Minor Hockey Association have been accounted for now with the recent announcement of the PeeWee division’s post-season awards.
George Halvorsen (Fort Frances Lions) earned the Bud Hebert Trophy for Most Valuable Player while Ben Morrisseau (Fort Frances Firemen) captured the Mike Vanjura Trophy as Most Valuable Defenceman.
The Andrew Grynol Memorial Trophy for Most Sportsmanlike Player went to Matt Hebert (IBEW Lightning), with Matt Depiero (Kaemingh Esso) being selected for the Whitey Christiansen Trophy as Rookie of the Year.
Esso Medals of Achievement also were handed out to deserving players on each of the five local PeeWee teams:
•IBEW Lightning—Matt Hebert (Most Dedicated), Ryan Wood (Most Sportsmanlike), and Brady Cawston/Nolan Windego (Most Improved);
•Kentucky Colonels—Evan McCabe (Most Dedicated), T.J. Pocock (Most Sportsmanlike), and Scott Schell (Most Improved);
•Kaemingh Esso—Luke McMahon/Jacob McMahon (Most Dedicated), Talbot Johnson (Most Sportsmanlike), and Kevin Jackson (Most Improved);
•Fort Frances Lions—Steve Williams (Most Dedicated), Robert Leimenstoll (Most Sportsmanlike), and Wendel Smith (Most Improved);
•Fort Frances Firemen—Nathan Calder (Most Dedicated), Faron Morrisseau (Most Sportsmanlike), and Jesse Mainville (Most Improved).
