Dear sir:
On Dec. 18/02, a letter to the editor was received by the Fort Frances Times entitled “At what expense.” The content of the letter was opposed to Wal-Mart coming to Fort Frances and signed “S. Hoard.”
This letter was not sent in by me, Stan Hoard, who is not opposed to Wal-Mart coming to Fort Frances. In fact, I, like many other residents of Fort Frances, would like to see more competition such as another grocery store to relieve us of high prices.
Dryden has a new IGA, Safeway, Extra Foods, plus a Wal-Mart.
In past letters to the editor, there were concerns about Wal-Mart being American-owned. Well, Wal-Mart will not be the only American-owned business in Fort Frances.
More shopping choices in Fort Frances would help eliminate out-shopping and benefit the local community with jobs and taxes. Thank you for your space.
