‘Wheels to Meals’ wraps up

Last Thursday (June 5) was the final day for the “Wheels to Meals” program for area seniors at the Emo Legion until the fall.
The day started with carpet bowling, with 22 taking part. Everyone on hand then settled down to a potluck lunch, prepared by the seniors themselves, and served by Adelia Guba and Lois Shine.
They pair had worked through the fall, winter, and spring season preparing different flavoured meals for the group. On this the last day, both ladies were honoured for their dedicated service.
Jose Balcewich and Donna Morrish also were thanked for their participation, helping out one way or the other for the “Wheels to Meals” program, which was co-ordinated by Mollie Crozier.
Then it was a jolly mood as Glen Hart, with his electric guitar, and Ramona Smith (accordian) teamed up to play several old-time tunes, including “I’ll Be Loving You Always,” “You are My Sunshine,” and “When Irish Eyes are Smiling.”
They say hometown music is like a good home-cooked meal. This time, the seniors could enjoy both—excellent food and music to match.
Glen Hart and his orchestra are familiar figures in the district, playing at the the Emo Legion and Stratton seniors’ centre, as well as at the Brink Center in Baudette.
