It looks like Santa and his merry elves will be popping into town a little early this year as local author Susan Cousineau marks the release of her latest craft and decorating book, “Easy Christmas Crafts,” tomorrow.
“This is definitely the book I’m most proud of,” said Cousineau. “North Light Books is a wonderful publisher to work with and the quality of their books is second to none.
“Unlike other publishers I’ve worked with in the past, North Light Books encourages their authors to become part of the entire creative design process.
“They even gave me the opportunity to personalize my dedication with family photos and to illustrate the book with images I designed on the computer,” she added.
“It means a lot to have a book which is dedicated to the family and friends who gave me such wonderful memories of Christmases past. That was the inspiration behind this book.”
Cousineau will be joining Connie Cuthbertson and her staff at Northwoods Gallery & Gifts on Scott Street for some frosty fun tomorrow as they celebrate “Fun in the Snow”—a Christmas-themed sales extravaganza being held in conjunction with the BIA’s “Mall Days.”
She will be at the store from 1-4 p.m., where she’ll be selling her newly-released book at a special introductory price of $19.99 ($4 off the list price).
And with each book purchase, you’ll receive a heart-warming handcrafted Christmas ornament.
“We’re always very pleased to promote our local authors,” said Cuthbertson. “And if you’re not able to make [this] event, Susan and I will be planning a second event closer to Christmas at one of my open houses.”
Cousineau also will be offering lots of great draw prizes tomorrow, including copies of the book and a selection of handcrafted Christmas decorations. The draws will be held at 4 p.m., but you need not be present to win.
Meanwhile, Northwoods will be decorated to show off Christmas decorations.
But don’t fret if you don’t make tomorrow’s book launch as Northwoods will have copies in stock up until the “real” Christmas season arrives.
“Easy Christmas Crafts” is packed with 26 heart-warming projects that will appeal to crafters of all ages and skill level.
There are five festive Christmas themes in all, including “Visions of Sugarplums,” “Santa Lane,” “Frosty Fun,” “Teddy Bear Treasures,” and “Glitters of Christmas Past.”
It’s full of old-fashioned storybook charm and the perfect gift idea for all occasions.
“Early Christmas Crafts” is the first of a three-book series to be authored by Cousineau. Her next book, “Easy Hallowe’en Crafts,” will be published early next year, with the “Easy Spring & Garden Crafts” to follow shortly after.
