“The day was great, [we] could not expect any better,” noted one parent as the Fort Frances Sea Cadets Corps #144 held its wind-up barbecue at the Lions Park in Emo.
On hand were parents, grandparents, friends, and staff.
Chef Bill Whiting was all geared up to make sure everyone had their fill—and more! There also was plenty of dainties and watermelon to go around.
Commanding Officer Lt. (N) Cecile LaVigne had some humour for her father, saying, “You know, Dad, the rule with the cadets is you must eat everything on your plate before getting even near the dainties.”
He replied politely, “Sorry, I am not part of this organization, so there are no rules and regulations to abide by.”
That ended that conversation—and everyone kept on with the barbecued hamburgers and hotdogs.
