MARGARET S. KING

The family of Margaret S. King announce that in the morning hours of March 18, 2025, Margaret, at 67, lost her battle with cancer at the Rainy River Hospital and has gone to meet her Lord JESUS.

Margaret was born in Fort Frances, Ontario on December 9, 1957, to George Thompson and Geraldine Thompson (Zaporzan). She was predeceased by her parents George Thompson, Geraldine and Terry Byington; her sister Tina Thompson; nephews baby Thompson and Bradley Thompson; her twin boys John and baby King.

Left to cherish her memories is her husband Clarence/Mike and their son Ashley (Anna). She leaves behind two granddaughters Laci and Gianna; two grandsons Zach and Colby; also surviving are two brothers Bill (Lorraine), John (Rita); and a sister Joanne; several nieces nephews and a few greats.

Margaret married Clarence in 1977, and on their wedding day was gifted half a commercial fishing license and was accepted into the King family by her father-in-law. She worked alongside her husband while raising two boys. When the fishery closed in the early 90s Margaret fought to have the old fishery property surveyed and deeded so that everyone would have a place to go according to her father-in-law’s wishes. In 94-95 they bought a house and moved to Morson Ontario. Margaret was baptized on June 30, 1996, and has continued to serve her Lord in every aspect of her life. While living in town now full-time, she was able to visit more churches and meet new friends. Margaret also worked in the United States on an assembly line at Marvin Windows and Doors and yup, she continued to visit more churches on that side too, while making some real close friends.

When Mike, Margaret and some friends went on a trip to Mexico, with help she even went looking for a church there too. In the summer months Margaret still enjoyed the Lake, so she decided to do some housekeeping, laundry, cooking and cleaning for many different lodges like Monument Bay, Gaudry’s, Red Wing and Reel Em Inn Lodge. Margaret was a real people person and wanted to help others so she got her degree as a PSW working with Comcare health services. She became a certified family relief worker and also worked for AKRC, where she gained more knowledge and understanding of the Anishinaabe culture. From there she decided to open her home to become a foster parent and daycare provider. If you ever needed a safe place to stay she would try her hardest to help you find that place. Treasures close to her heart were all children and being a parent and wearing all those different hats, she was very proud of her son and grandchildren.

Margaret had a Bucket List and one in particular was to Camp at the beautiful spring-fed Blue Lake, she was so happy when her son and fiancé planned the trip and took her along. Margaret was recognized and received an honour for doing community services in her area, she always had a thirst for knowledge and was constantly updating her skills, taking many different courses. She even tried her hand at computers and phones to try and keep up with the changing times, although she would always put her Christian faith into every aspect of her daily life. She often found and attended churches wherever she went. Margaret tried many different avenues of life but mostly enjoyed helping people, as she believed God loves us all. She was involved in many different prayer lines, coffee breaks, ministries, prophecies and absolutely had a true Love for God.

Father what do you want me to give today of you? A smile, a hug, encouragement, excitement. I’m ready to go – What do you want me to leave – Give? I LOVE YOU, The Battle Belongs to The Lord, and He’s won the victory!
