On March 10, 2025, our father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend of many, Wayne “Clyde” Lengyel, passed. After 81 years of a life well lived, he was able to rejoin his wife Katy.
Wayne, known to his siblings as Sonny, was born January 27, 1944, to Mable Lengyel (Ayotte) and John Lengyel. He married Katherine (Katy) Lengyel on August 12, 1964, and later moved to Nickel Lake where they raised their five children Andy (Kelly), Cheryl (Bob), Tammy (Kevin), Wayne Jr. and Jason . He was a well loved grandfather to Samantha, Ashley, Jacklynn, Tessa, Matthew, Tracyn, Colton, Ethan, and Shay. He also had eight beloved great-grandchildren. He loved his family and let them know often.

He started his career with the MNR at 17. During his career, he led the first all-female fire crew and played a large role in the union and the junior rangers program. Clyde invented backfire balls. His family remembered him testing his idea at the house with ping pong balls and the burnt table as a result of his experiments. Anyone who knew him heard all about his time with the MNR, and they all knew how much it meant to him. He was well known through the organization and has had an impact on many throughout the years.
Beyond the MNR, he was known for being on the lake fishing or in the bush hunting, a passion he passed on to all of his family. If you didn’t find Clyde at his table on Nickel Lake, you would find him at one of the outposts with his friends.
Clyde lived an amazing life packed with memories, family, and friendship that could never be summarized.
His family wants to thank all the “young fellas” who have helped him over the years, his neighbours for always checking in on him and his amazing doctors and nurses.
A celebration of life will take place this summer at his place on Nickel Lake.
Arrangements entrusted to Northridge Funeral Home Ltd., Emo, Ontario.
