Speaking to KBHW administrative secretary Dawn Nyborg regarding their upcoming “Sharathon 2003” on Aug. 12-14, this year’s theme will be “Called to Praise.”
“This is our largest event of the year,” Nyborg noted.
“Preparations have begun and over the last month, the gears have been turning as we seek the Lord and offer up our largest event that He may bless our ‘Sharathon’ and be blessed in return,” she added.
“As we gear up for another year of service to the Lord, your help is needed to meet this challenge,” stressed KBHW station manager Bruce Christopherson.
He noted they have asked the Lord to expand their territory and the prospect of new translators becomes a real goal here. These are projects that take funding upon being granted the permits.
“We don’t have them yet but continue to pray with us for the Lord’s blessing and favour with the FCC,” Christopherson added.
“It is our desire to see our family of supporters grow,” he said, noting the various communities in KBHW’s coverage area include Bemidji, Grand Rapids, Virginia, Ely, Baudette, Warroad, International Falls, and Fort Frances, with many smaller ones in-between.
“Last year during ‘Sharathon,’ we only heard from 502 of you who were led to make a Faith Promise,” recalled Christopherson. “That is quite significant considering the area of coverage we have.”
Please consider partnering with us in this endeavour as we answer the call “Called To Praise” in our area of northern Minnesota and Northwestern Ontario, Christopherson said.
“We just can’t do this without your help,” he stressed. “There are no grants that are available so you are the conduit that the Lord uses to thrust this ministry forward.”
Listeners already have received a brightly-coloured pre-Sharathon card so they can get a jump on your requested day or half-day, news, weather, or block party sponsorships.
The cost of the day and half-day sponsorships have jumped to $600 and $300, respectively, said Christopherson, though adding this is the first time in 20 years that they have increased the cost for sponsoring.
The only other major change is that KBHW will not offer news or weather sponsors on Sundays because the station is automated that day and, as such, those sponsorships cannot be programmed.
You may be part of a group (i.e., Aglow, Moms in Touch, Promise Keepers, etc.), and KBHW would love to have at least two or three reps from your group assist with answering the phones for a four-hour shift.
“We can’t do it without you. Let’s hear from you,” Christopherson said.
“If you are in the area over the next month, would you be willing to stop in and tell us just how much KBHW means to you and when you listen,” he added.
“We at KBHW want to know if you are being blessed by what you hear on this FM station.”
