Busy Spring ahead in the District

A busy spring ahead for district people.

The annual Ag Day takes place April 5, at the Chapple Rec Centre from 8:30 a.m – 4 p.m. Many keynote speakers will be available that day on a wide variety of topics. Luncheon is available for $10. More information to follow next week on this event.

There will be a Crop and Soil meeting on April 7. It’s a beef and informational meeting with guest speaker James Byrne on cattle performance and pasture quality. The meeting will be held at Emo Feeds at 7 p.m.

Happy 65th birthday to Glen Kellar on Feb 14. Glen’s birthday was made even more memorable with him winning $5,000 from the Lakers Golden Puck Draw. May you celebrate many more years.

Happy to say Helen Cates is making a remarkable recovery after her recent fall when her hip was broken. She is home after spending time in Thunder Bay and out and about. Helen would like to thank all those for their prayers and many acts of kindness

Also sending wishes for a full recovery to Diane Hereema who recently broke her arm during a slip outside when conditions were extremely icy.

“Lenten Lunches” will continue every Wednesday until April 9, at the Knox United Church in Emo. Come for a short worship service, followed by soup and sandwich for $5. Monies goes to support the United Church mission and service.

Beer and Burger and a meat draw takes place at the Emo Legion this Friday (March 21). Doors open at 5 p.m. and the draw takes place at 7 p.m.

Sincere condolences to the family and friends of Clyde (Wayne) Lengyel. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with all grieving at this sad time.

The winner of February gas draw at Devlin’s General Store was Kendra Bodnar. This is the last month of the gas draw. Devlin’s will be running a couple specials and will be giving away gift cards and other ways just to change things up. Heather Hatch and Edmund Allan were the winners of the gift card from the kitchen promotion from our advertised burger week. Just a reminder to watch for Devlin’s Store FB post for their special promotions.
