Bowman waltzes to two more wins

Scotty Bowman may be the dean of hockey coaches, but Ron Bowman is becoming the professor emeritus of the local Rendezvous Yacht Club.
Bowman and his boat “In Tune” are making a mockery of the club’s Wednesday night fall race series as victories July 23 and 30 made him three-for-three so far.
The skipper now has won seven-straight Wednesday night races, dating back to the spring series earlier this year.
Bowman finished in a corrected time of 29:29 in the five-leg race held July 23, holding off fast-charging Quinn McCarthy and “Sedna,” who registered a time of 30:08.
Robin Freeman, captaining Bob Algie’s usual vessel “Kemosabe,” took third in 32:46 while Colin Hewitt and “Ariba” were fourth (34:54).
In another five-leg affair held July 30, Bowman and “In Tune” won in a time of 29:23, with Algie and “Kemosabe” clocking 30:54—just 13 seconds ahead McCarthy and “Sedna.”
Fourth place went to Tim Mack, who took over sailing chores for the evening from Hewitt aboard “Ariba,” coming across the finish line in 34:16.
The Woody’s Fairly Reliable Regatta Fun Race, open to sailors of beginning experience levels, will happen Aug. 16 as part of the Ranier Festival over in Ranier, Mn.
