The Muskie boys’ hockey team saved their best for last.
The black-and-gold trounced the Jeffers Jets (Michigan) 9-1 in their final game at the annual Marshall Hilltoppers tournament in Duluth yesterday to capture seventh place.
Taylor Jorgenson led the way with a pair of goals while Dustin Brown, Kyle Turgeon, Matt Hebert, Ryan Witherspoon, George Halverson, Blake Wepruk, and Matt McLellan all added singles.
David Moen earned the win between the pipes.
The victory was a positive ending to what otherwise had been a difficult week.
After dropping their opening game 3-2 to the Hudson Raiders on Tuesday, the Muskies dropped another close game—this time by a score of 4-3—to Providence Academy on Wednesday.
Turgeon, Cody McCool, and Zach McCool scored for the Muskies versus Providence, with Richard Wieringa taking the loss in goal.
Next up for the Muskies is the Tournament of Champions in Winnipeg on Jan. 3-7.
