Happy New Year Everyone! I hope that everyone has had a wonderful holiday and enjoyed a little downtime or uptime if that’s what you needed. I started last week getting back in the office for a few hours to get back on track. It is great to take time off but then suddenly there is a pile of things waiting for you. It is the Annual Meeting season, and this means lots of planning. I have a busy couple of weeks ahead of me and a fair bit of travel. The Ontario’s Not for Profit Corporation Act made some changes that many of our organizations are to adhere to. This meant going through the constitution and making some changes or additions. It doesn’t sound hard, but it was a 35 pages workbook and took some time. I am still fully decorated for Christmas and will likely stay that way until the weekend. I never de-Christmas until after Ukrainian Christmas. It certainly has been nice to see the sun these last few cold days but as I looked around in my house today the dust has returned since my pre-Christmas major house cleaning deal. I have that back on the list again. Berkley (Marlee’s dog) has been out a fair bit because they have been away with hockey, so the vacuum has been going a little extra. We ended up having to keep her and Lexi a little calmer and not let them play together outside because Lexi ended up with a very sore leg that I believe she injured as a puppy. I have ordered a laser for her, and I hope that I can get her back in shape again. She needs to lose weight, but I am nervous about taking her for long walks with a sore / injured leg. Of course, when there is something wrong with my dog, I am a nervous wreck, and I am sure I have told you before they should really drug me up so that I am not worried sick about them all the time. This cold weather has certainly stiffened things up but there is a lot of ice around. The cows are coming home for water now because some of their drinking holes have iced over now. There isn’t much snow, and it would likely be ok to get some to cover up the ice, but I know you need to be careful what you wish for. One of my female ducks had her head caught in the gate the other day and I thought I was going to lose her. She is feeling much better and I think she learnt her lesson as she stays away from the gate area now.
