EDWARD (ED) JEREMIE BRUNEAU

Quietly on December 16, 2024, at 68 years old, Ed passed after a brave, brief battle with cancer.

Ed was born and raised in Fort Frances, Ontario. He regaled us all with stories of family gardens, adventures with his brother and sisters and growing up on the lakes of Northwestern Ontario. He moved to Thunder Bay to attend Confederation College for drafting.

His life’s work was helping others – whether it was the job that needed doing, or the thing that needed fixing – he was there. He worked in homes and businesses across the city and region, remembering, well, just about all of them. Retiring from work as a journeyman in 2013 was an exciting time – now to choose his own jobs! You would find him daily at the Columbus Centre on May Street fixing something, serving spaghetti or running the bar and making sure all was in tip top shape.

Ed’s family was the most important to him. He is survived by his loving wife Linda; daughters Katherine and Amanda (Robin); stepson Steven (Amanda); and grandchildren Hannah, Lennox and Malcolm. He loved traveling to visit his sisters Rose and Jeanette (Melvin) and kept in touch with daily calls. Family extended to the Knights of Columbus (council 1447) where he served faithfully for over 50 years. Ed was predeceased by his parents Albert and Therese Bruneau and brother Claude.

Mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 23, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. in Corpus Christi R.C. Church, with Rev. Rey Ronquillo presiding. A luncheon will be held at his second home, the Columbus Centre, immediately following Mass. Interment to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Thunder Bay Community Foundation – Fort William Columbus Club Community Non-Endowed Fund are appreciated.

Arrangements entrusted to the Blake Funeral Chapel, 200 May Street S., Thunder Bay.
