Our beloved father, Louis Ivan Jourdain, passed away peacefully with family at his side at La Verendrye Hospital on December 15, 2024, at the age of 77. He is survived by siblings Melvin Jourdain, Everette Jourdain and Wilma Wilson.
Louie was born in Fort Frances, Ontario, at Fort Frances General Hospital on August 13, 1947. His childhood in Couchiching First Nation instilled a lifelong passion in fishing, hunting and trapping; and he loved telling stories to anyone who would listen. Louis and Rose Smith first met and bonded over their mutual appreciation for fishing and hosting family gatherings and continued to share this throughout their long and happy common law marriage. Louis especially enjoyed watching his grandson Nick play baseball, happily cheering him on, and they enjoyed spending time together throughout the years.

He leaves behind his children Jason Jourdain, Desmond Jourdain (Beverley Jourdain) and his cherished grandson Nicholas B. Jourdain. Louis was preceded in death by his parents Moses and Regina Jourdain; his partner Rose L. Smith; siblings William, Kelvin, Gladys, Victoria and Marlene. Also left behind are numerous nieces, nephews, step-children, and step-grandchildren.
There will be no wake or funeral, as per “Big Fish” Lou’s wishes. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Online condolences may be offered at www.northridgefuneralhome.com
WHEN I GO
When I go,
don’t learn to live without me,
just learn to live without my love
in a different way.And if you need to see me,
close your eyes,
or look in your shadow
when the sun shines.I’m there…
Sit with me in the quiet and you will know
that I did not leave. There is no leaving when a soul is blended
with another.When I go,
Author Donna Ashworth
don’t learn to live without me,
just learn to look for me in the moments.
I will be there…
