Leeann was raised in Fort Frances and graduated from Fort Frances High School. She married her high school sweetheart Bobby Mainville on July 14, 1990, and together they welcomed two daughters; Jillian and Joleigh. Leeann worked as a bookkeeper for Dennis Roach for many years and developed a lifelong friendship with him. When Lee and Bob’s children were older, Leeann decided to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a Registered Nurse.
Leeann worked in several facets of nursing including: inpatient care on St. Andrews Ward, breast health, wound care, community care, and palliative care. Additionally, she taught other nurses what she had learned, taking on roles of both teacher and manager. She loved teaching and supporting families wherever she could.
Throughout Leeann’s life she took up numerous hobbies. Leeann was an avid golfer before her back injury and spent majority of time on Rainy Lake with family and friends. She was a talented quilter, scrapbooker, cross-stitcher, and loved paint by numbers, and beading. She loved a great TV series as well as dogs, specifically Newfoundlands. Her most recent endeavour was to make mini cheesecakes for special family events.
Her greatest and most favourite role was that of grandmother. At the time of her passing, she loved spending each day with her grandchildren Clark and Andi. She loved taking Clark on drives to construction sights and quilting with Andi Leeann, her little spitfire who perhaps inherited a bit of her grandmas’ personality.
Leeann’s family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Laxton, Dr. Gustafson, Chad Johnson, and the Critical Care nurses and doctors at Thunder Bay Regional Hospital.
Celebration of life was held on Monday, December 9, 2024, at La Place Rendezvous in Fort Frances, Ont., from 4:00 p.m until 5:30 p.m. Honorary pallbearers were Leeann’s nieces and nephews. Leeann requested that donations be made to Community Chest in memoriam.
