Local bowlers bound for provincials

Let the good times roll.
Five bowlers representing Plaza Lanes at the Northern Ontario Youth Bowling Challenge zone round in Kenora this past weekend had the pin gods on their side, as they earned spots in the provincial round in Sudbury Dec. 5-7.
“They make us so proud, and they’re so well behaved,” said regional coach Mary Wood. “They did very well. We’ve got more kids going to the provincials in this event this year than we have in the last two years.”
Jon Wood was no stiff in qualifying first overall for the regional men’s team headed to Sudbury, recording a 249 average in five games.
Andrew Stamarski made sure Wood had company, as he finished in fifth spot to also grab a berth on the men’s squad.
Cristy and Courtney Beadle qualified for the ladies’ team by ending up second and third, respectively.
Ashley LaFreniere secured her trip to Sudbury after a sixth-place result in the mixed division.
Game scores for Stamarski, the Beadles, and LaFreniere were unavailable at press time.
This Sunday at Plaza Lanes, the house round of the Northern Ontario Family Twosome will take place, with shifts scheduled for 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
