They needed volunteers and Emo Toy Library and Resource Centre got them for their fall carnival, which was held Saturday afternoon at the Emo Legion.
ETL co-ordinators Jennifer Miedema and April Simmons were quite pleased with the attendance, especially the kiddies, who enjoyed every minute of the event.
There was children’s games and a playground area, which attracted all the attention. There also was face-painting.
Former teacher Joyce Meyers looked after the free snack table, which also included beverages, while Melody Wheatley was in charge of the penny table.
The theme for the carnival, of course, was Hallowe’en. The Borderland Community Orchestra was the special guest—and some members came attired in costumes.
This gave the youngsters just what they expected—a colourful atmosphere with a musical attitude.
The orchestra responded with several selections that pleased everyone on hand. Carmela Klug also narrated “The Three Bears,” with the orchestra providing the background music.
The audience received this with enthusiasm.
In conclusion, everyone joined in a march around the hall. “This was something else, awesome,” said one parent.
Volunteers were everywhere (there was no shortage), which made the carnival that much more interesting. The ETL co-ordinators thanked everyone in helping with the set-up and the clean-up afterwards.
The ETL now plans to concentrate its activities on the upcoming Christmas season.
