The Bantam regional volleyball championships took place this past Saturday at Fort Frances and Couchiching, and our Crossroad kids excelled in two ways.
First, the Grade 7-8 girls’ squad won the gold medal in their division, edging Atikokan 2-1 in their best-of-three battle in the final.
Then second, though the boys had to settle for fourth place after losing the bronze-medal match to Atikokan, perhaps their most honourable accomplishment was receiving the trophy for most sportsmenlike team.
Way to go, both teams! I think you all proved Crossroads has double winners.

The annual Crossroads Christmas concert is slated for Thursday, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. A dress rehearsal will be open to the public the previous day (Dec. 10) at 1:15 p.m.
These concerts are a great way to put you in the mood for the holiday season. The smiles and bright eyes of all the kids remind you of what Christmas is all about.

Crossroads supplies each class with a tray of fresh fruit every morning, but sometimes it’s difficult for Kathy to get the fruit prepared by herself.
If any volunteers would like to stop by around 8:30 a.m. to help her, it would be greatly appreciated.

My family had double trouble beginning last Thursday (Nov. 27) with my sister, Glenna Rea, requiring emergency surgery. Then on Saturday afternoon, my father (Glenn Galusha) was admitted to La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances with complications from his ongoing aging problems.
Thankfully, Glenna’s surgery went well and she is now recuperating at home. However, my dad remains in the hospital. If anyone who knows him has time stop by and say hi, he’s in Room 102.

The November gas draw at Dev-Lynne’s was won by Ken Faragher of Fort Frances, who took home a stainless steel cooler.

A reminder the annual community potluck supper at the Devlin Hall is coming up Sunday, Dec. 14. All kinds of fun things will make the day a huge success.
