Muskie girls still winless in league play

If Goliath keeps this up, David is going to need a howitzer instead of a slingshot to take the beast down.
The Kenora Broncos scored seven times in the first period en route to an easy 12-1 romp over the Muskie girls’ hockey squad there Monday night to drop the black-and-gold to 0-3 in NorWOSSA play.
A familiar and painful story played itself out again for Fort High as they played the defending league champs even up for the first four minutes. But once the Broncos put one dent in the Muskies’ armour, the whole suit fell off.
Riley Edwards beat starting goalie Megan Bob to make it 1-0 for Kenora, igniting a five-goal outburst for the Broncos over a span of 4:30.
Jennifer Meisner, Joelle Charlebois (two), and Kimber Carlson did the damage for the Broncos in that time. Delaney Craven and Edwards, with her second, later tallied to cap the first period.
The Muskies seemed to settle down in the second period, allowing only Amy McQuoid’s marker and Edwards’ third goal to boost Kenora’s lead to 9-0.
After Carlson picked up her second of the game at 4:02 of the third, Courtney Caldwell scored from a scramble in front of Bronco goalie Marley Hodges to give the Muskies their first goal in NorWOSSA action this season after two-consecutive shutouts.
Kaitlyn Gasparini and Allison Engstrom then rounded out the scoring for Kenora, who had opened the season with a 7-0 win over Fort High here back
on Nov. 11.
The Muskies will try to halt their NorWOSSA winless skid next Wednesday (Dec. 10) in Dryden against the Eagles. Their next home game is Friday, Dec. 12 in an exhibition confrontation with the Red Lake Rams.
