Deserving respect

Dear sir:
It is a sad situation that security staff have to be hired to watch over some individuals who would do damage to the arena.
Since I have been working there, the majority of the people—whether young or old—have been wonderful, caring people. We have been told by out-of-town visitors that we have the best facility in Northwestern Ontario.
It would be easy to blame it all on young people, but that wouldn’t be true. To adults, where is your pride, and parents, where are your children?
For these people, you should take the time to read the names of the contributors to your facility in the lobby. They are some of the people who cared enough to make this arena possible.
One name is very special to me. Many of you knew him by name; some only as the man in the wheelchair. I knew him as a brother who worked on countless fundraisers to make the arena happen because he cared so much for hockey and kids.
He watched with great pride every phase of the building process. A trip to town was not complete without a “tour” by the arena to see the progress. His name was Randy Sisco, he was my brother, and he didn’t live to see even one game played there.
So read the names, see who else is no longer with us, and then show them the respect they deserve.
