Winning streak continues for Muskies

Thursday, September 12, in Winnipeg, the Fort Frances Muskies dominated the Daniel McIntyre Maroons 55 – 0.

The Muskies jumped out to a 30 – nothing lead by the end of the first quarter, and increased that to 48 – nothing at halftime.

The Muskies got two touchdowns from senior running back Blake Kreger who opened the scor- ing with a short run and closed the scoring on a long punt return. Senior receiver Griffin Webb scored twice. He ran for a touchdown, caught a touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Milo Stafford and Webb also threw a touchdown to freshman receiver Malachi Barkley. Stafford also ran for a short touchdown and connected on a touchdown pass to his brother Liam.

Webb led the Muskie defense with two inter- ceptions. The defense forced two safeties, includ- ing one by Senior Luc Gagne.

The lopsided score enabled most of the team’s junior players to get significant time on the field. The Muskies host Kenora on Friday Septem- ber 20 at 3 p.m. in the 75th annual Home- coming game. It will be a rematch of the 2024

WHSFL championship match-up.
The Muskies have won their first two games

and are tied for first place in the AAA Division of the Winnipeg High School Football League.

The public is encouraged to come out and cheer on the Muskies during homecoming. The concession will also be selling Muskie Discount Cards, tickets for a 50/50 draw, and new this year – tickets for $3,000 in gas from the CC Complex gas bar, with all proceeds supporting the team.
