Canadians put on hold

They wanted to play, but nobody except for a local Bantam squad would accommodate them.
The Fort Frances Midget ‘AA’ Canadians hockey team had its schedule changed, then changed again last weekend as both planned regular-season and exhibition games fell through.
The Canadians’ original Eastman Midget League contest here Sunday against Mitchell was postponed, so head coach Dave Egan arranged for an exhibition game against the Dryden Renegades, whom the Canadians have beaten once and tied once so far this season.
But the nasty winter weather that settled in Friday night left area highways tricky at best and the Renegades opted to beg out of the Saturday tilt.
Egan then tried to set up a make-up game with the Renegades for Sunday but that didn’t end up working out, either.
All that was left for the Canadians was to play the local Taggs Bantam ‘AA’ squad in a friendly affair that ended in a 4-4 tie, with the Canadians having to rally from a 4-1 deficit.
Fort Frances, with a 3-0 record in ‘A’ Division play in the Eastman Midget League so far, will resume their regular season with road games against Grunthal and Mitchell this Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
Their next home game is slated Jan. 24 against Portage La Prairie.
