A fried chicken benefit dinner was held Saturday (Jan. 31) for Lynn Furbish at the Moose Lodge in Baudette, with scores of friends, neighbours, and relatives in attendance.
The Moose Lodge and friends hosted the event, with proceeds going towards Furbish’s expenses, etc. while she undergoes treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Mn.
Furbish does not stay at the clinic while getting her required treatments, which are given in small dosages to keep her from getting to sick.
The treatments will continue for another two weeks, after which she will come home for a week before returning to the clinic for an evaluation of her condition and whatever steps still will be required.
Furbish was not feeling well prior to her grandfather’s recent 95th birthday party. She went to Duluth for a consultation and immediately was referred to the Mayo Clinic, where she was diagnosed with cancer.
The benefit dinner was held to help keep her financially stable.
Furbish is owner/operator of Floral Expressions. Her daughter, Jamie, will manage the business while she is undergoing treatment.
