Dear editor:
Wal-Mart has arrived in Fort Frances and what a great way to introduce themselves to our community. Last Thursday morning, a presentation was made to four local charities, and Friends of Animals was one of the grateful four.
We cannot express enough thanks for the money received, which will allow us to provide food and shelter for the many animals we are receiving, especially during this cold spell.
Animals are of God’s creation, as are we, however, they do not share the benefits of society as we do. They cannot access local food banks, the Salvation Army, or enjoy a nice hot meal at David’s Deli.
They have to fend for themselves, the strays and unwanted cats and dogs, or depend on a kind-hearted human to toss them a few scraps.
We are receiving more—and more—animals as people are refusing to call the municipal animal control office knowing the animals will end up in the local pound.
Members of Friends of Animals would like to acknowledge and graciously thank Wal-Mart, their employees, and their charity fund committee for the generous donation. It will go a long way in caring for those needy animals.
We wish Wal-Mart every success with the new store—a great addition to our community!
Sincerely,
Mary Pasechko
Secretary-Treasurer
