War and Peace
By Bronson Bodnar
War is soldiers holding guns
Peace is returning home to see loved ones
War is shooting and living in trenches
Peace is being away from the rain that soaks and drenches
War is fighting with all your powers
Peace is being in a garden, smelling flowers
War is killing who you think is your enemy Peace is being home with a lovely family
War is traversing a battleground, cold and wet Peace is watching a beautiful sunset
War is the aftermath of the battle, the rubble Peace is watching your kids blow bubbles
War is fighting a battle that you wish wasn’t real Peace is heading home to recover, to heal
War is doing something that you know is wrong Peace is singing your children bedtime songs
War is wishing to be together at home Peace is being together, instead of alone
War is remembering the soldiers who kept the enemy at bay Peace is saluting to those who still protect us today
Soon
By Lola Anderson
That humid summer night, I remember vividly.
My father going on the train, my mother crying.
All those families, watching sons and dads. Leaving.
I would ask my mother when he would be back,
She would always say in sorrow, He will be back soon.
A few months later, I bought some gifts.
Sent them to my father with a note.
When will you be back?
I received mail back, a note from my father.
I will be back soon.
Years later, 1945 we miss our father.
Other husbands and sons return.
Except ours.
A knock on our door, mother opens it.
A few soldiers, I thought it’d be father.
They start talking to my mother with a look of sorrow.
My mother, face red and crying, approached me and my brothers. Father won’t be back.
War is….
By Brexton Catholique-Bruyere
War is hell.
Peace is calmness.
War is soldiers not coming home to their families Peace is joy and happiness
War is trenches filled with blood Peace is when my brain is smooth.
War is chaos.
Peace is when the wold is calm.
War is bullets flying everywhere.
Peace is waking up to the smell of birds.
War is the smell of gas and gunpowder. Peace is what I want.
Remembrance Day Poem
By Jaxon Cassidy
Crosses white as sheep, But now they all sleep.
We all remember the ones that died,
But now we can remember with lots of pride.
I must ask if you remember,
What happened on that 11th of November.
I can imagine the boom, As I’m in my room.
Remember the ones that died, And the families that cried.
War and Peace
By Logan Neurinski
War is death
Peace is the warmth of your mothers breath
War is the sound of constant cries Peace is the happy look in your eyes
War is looking down a gun’s scope Peace is the feeling of constant hope
War is the thought of never making it out Peace is playing in your childhood hideout
War is missing your children and wife Peace is life
