Eight people from Thunder Bay and Vancouver face various drugrelated charges in the wake of an 18-month investigation into a cocaine trafficking ring, the RCMP reported yesterday.
The project resulted in the execution of more than 30 search warrants in Thunder Bay, Winnipeg, Regina, and Vancouver.
The investigation was able to disrupt a cocaine trafficking network that has been operating for more than two years.
It also resulted in the seizure of about one kg of cocaine, $217,000 Canadian currency, 100 grams of marijuana, 854 marijuana plants, 99 Ecstasy pills, nine vehicles, and Hells Angels related items The investigation is ongoing, with further charges pending.
The Tri-Force Drug Unit, composed of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Thunder Bay Police, and OPP, in conjunction with the Regina Integrated Proceeds of Crime Unit and the Ontario Biker Enforcement Unit, conducted the investigation.
