MARK KENNETH ABBOTT

Mark moved on from this world on February 27, 2024. With sadness in our hearts, we find solace in knowing that he in is a better place and reunited with Jackie. Mark was the youngest of four children, born to Eva and Gordon Abbot on March 4, 1957.

He was predeceased by his wife Jackie; father Gordon; brother-in-law Herb Hughes; as well as other family.

He is survived by his loving son Brock; mother Eva; brother Ray Abbot and sisters Lori Elliot and Dawn Hughes and their families. He is also survived by members of Jackie’s family, nieces and nephews and cousins, as well as many friends.

Mark was born in Fort Frances, Ontario, spent some years in Arnprior, Ontario, and then returned to finish high school in Fort Frances. After graduating, he decided to travel west across Canada, doing odd jobs and carpentry along the way. Arriving in B.C., he met a beautiful young spirited girl, Jackie Goddu. They eventually married in Jackie’s home in British Columbia. Brock came along on August 14, 1993, and he was the light in their lives.

Mark was a Jack of all Trades, Mr. Fix It. His main work revolved around carpentry and building homes. He loved boating, fishing, camping, snowmobiling and being out in nature. He and Brock collaborated together to repair and rebuild a pontoon boat. That was an accomplishment for the both of them.

He seemed to be the strong silent type, not talking much at times but every once in a while he would get a small smile, a twinkle in his eye and come out with a “zinger.” Jackie tagged him as “Mr. Cheeky Pants,” Never know what he’s up to.

A kind soul, Mark struggled with some medical problems later in his young life and eventually succumbed to cardiac issues.

Remembered with Great Love. RIP Mark & Jackie. <3
