Thunder fall to Blizzard here

Kevin Webb was pretty special, but special teams proved to be the Borderland Thunder’s undoing here Friday night.
Webb had a highlight-reel goal and added an assist, but the OCN Blizzard used a shorthanded goal and a power-play marker in the third period to fight their way past the Thunder 3-2 in pre-season action.
Coming off their first SIJHL title last season, the Thunder gave the reigning five-time Manitoba Junior Hockey League champion Blizzard all they could handle.
But with two exhibition clashes already under their belt entering the contest, OCN used its game experience advantage to pull out the victory in the final 20 minutes.
Brett Needham, Kiel Wilgosh, and Mark Wallman all tallied for the Blizzard while Sean Councillor and Webb replied for the Thunder.
Webb, whose tenacious forechecking set up Councillor’s firstperiod goal, won the opening faceoff of the third and zoomed into the Blizzard’s zone. He then unleashed a bullet that beat OCN backup goalie David Herman to the glove side.
Herman, who had replaced starter Ray McManus midway through the second period, was otherwise unbeatable—making several clutch saves late in the game to preserve the victory.
The Thunder will conclude their pre-season schedule with a home-and-home series next week against the newly-formed Fargo- Moorhead Jets of the North American Hockey League.
