The annual Volunteer Appreciation Potluck Dinner, was held at the Emo Legion, Saturday, January 20.
Mavis St. Hilaire welcomed all volunteers and shared that we were all there to celebrate the volunteers. There are currently over 75 active volunteers, and throughout the Emo Legion’s history the people that have volunteered their time is in the hundreds.
There was a special thanks to all the ladies and gentlemen that volunteer in the kitchen. Who work countless hours planning, preparing and cleaning up, for the many meals served by the Legion.
Around 80 people attended the appreciation potluck and Ralph Fluit gave grace before the meal was served. The delicious meal was enjoyed by all.
A brief list of the activities volunteers have accomplished and made possible:
- Weekly seniors lunches
- Bingo
- Remembrance Day Services and meals
- Funeral lunches
- Beer and Burger nights
- Meat draw donations
- Yoga
- Donations of various item
- Banquets
- Annual Good Friday Fish Fry
- Indoor and outdoor maintenance and construction
- Walleye Tournament canteen and beer gardens.
- Dances
Mavis also shared a heartfelt message saying, “The Emo Legion and all functions would not be possible without the generous donation of volunteers time. Our doors would not stay open without your help. Thank you all so much, none of this would be possible without your help.
The evening ended with a good amount of visiting, and everyone going home happy that they are part of the Emo Legion!
