The Muskie boys’ hockey team improved their NorWOSSA-leading record to 15-2-1 on Saturday afternoon with a convincing 17-0 rout of the Sioux Lookout Warriors in Emo.
The win came on the heels of a 14-0 Muskie win Friday night at the Ice for Kids Arena here.
Mat Gamsby earned the shutout in goal Saturday afternoon while Cody Wood was between the pipes for Friday night’s goose egg.
All the goal scorers were not available by press time today.
The black-and-gold were without forwards Mike Niskala (knee), Mitchell Green (possible concussion), and Kurtis Wepruk (who played only a period due to a knee injury) for the weekend series against the Warriors.
The Muskies now have moved to within two points of clinching first place and home ice advantage through the NorWOSSA playoffs, with home games against Dryden on Feb. 17 and Kenora on Feb. 24 to finish the regular season.
The black-and-gold travel to Chisolm this Thursday for their final exhibition game of the season.
The Muskies trounced the Bluestreaks 10-2 here back on Dec. 9.
