Boshcoff to tour riding

Newly-elected Thunder Bay-Rainy River MP Ken Boshcoff is planning a tour of the riding in September to meet with people from various municipalities and hear their concerns.
“I’m very excited about the chance to get to know the people better and to demonstrate my intention of providing the highest level of service to them in the newest part of the riding,” Boshcoff said in an interview this morning.
“I’m really pleased,” he noted, adding the tour is still in the planning stages.
His office will be sending out letters to municipalities this week asking if they would like to meet with Boshcoff and his team.
“That way, people get to know each other face to face, and my staff gets to know the communities, so when someone calls from Stanjikoming, they know exactly who’s calling and have a visual picture of the community,” he noted.
Boshcoff said he will be bringing staff from his constituency offices, and his office in Ottawa.
“It’s a way of getting to know what the outstanding issues are in each community, and it’s a proactive way of finding out how we can be of help,” he added.
Meanwhile, the first-time MP has been making frequent visits to Rainy River District, including appearances at the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship and the Rainy River centennial.
“I have been in the area every eight days since election day,” he noted.
Boshcoff said he is still in the process of finding space for a constituency office in Fort Frances, and that he is looking forward to heading to the House of Commons in the fall.
The next session of Parliament is expected to begin Oct. 4, 2004.
