Weekend rain near monthly average

For those who spent a good part of the long weekend indoors, it’s no surprise the U.S. National Weather Service reported this morning that rainfall over the past three days here almost exceeded the monthly average for September.
Saturday saw 1.09 cm (0.43 inches) of rain while that number jumped to 3.65 cm (1.44 inches) on Sunday. And the rain kept coming Labour Day, with another 2.69 cm (1.06 inches) falling.
That added up to 7.44 cm (2.93 inches) of rain over the holiday weekend—just below the normal total rainfall for the entire month of September at 7.69 cm (3.03 inches).
However, while high, the rainfall recorded on each day was not record-breaking. The record rainfall for Sept. 4 is 2.59 cm (1.02 inches) while it is 6.5 cm (2.56 inches) for Sept. 5.
The record rainfall for Sept. 6 is 2.92 cm (1.15 inches).
Alas, it doesn’t look like the rainy weather is going to stop any time soon. The forecast calls for a chance of showers and/or thunderstorms tomorrow through Saturday.
