Former Fort Frances resident Tressa Main, a main organizer of the town’s first-ever wakeboarding clinic last month, competed at the Canadian Wakeboarding Championships in Vancouver on Aug. 26-29 and won her division to advance to the world championships.
Main, 31, who currently lives in Winnipeg, won the 19-and-over age category and will compete in the World Wakeboard Championships in Seville, Spain coming up Oct. 13-17.
She also came second in the open women’s category (which is not restricted by age).
Main came first in the wakeskate portion, and second in the overall category, of last year’s national championships in Saskatoon and was fifth at the Worlds (separate from the world championships) in Orlando last year.
