Discount card blitz planned

Don’t be surprised if a Muskie football player comes knocking at your door next week.
The “discount cards” are in and the Muskie Touchdown Booster Club is planning to conduct its second-annual “blitz” next Thursday (Sept. 23) starting around 5:30 p.m.
Players from all three teams—varsity, Bantam, and PeeWee—will go door-to-door in designated areas to sell the $30 card, which features discounts at a dozen local businesses.
The cards expire May 31, 2005.
With three Emo businesses on the card this year, the plan is to have players who live in the district canvass homes in that area that same evening.
The “discount cards” are a major fundraiser for the touchdown club in order to help pay to run the Muskie football program each year—which is much more costly since the squad joined the Winnipeg High School Football League in 2001.
In related news, the touchdown club and FFHS athletic association are teaming up to bring an AHL exhibition game to Fort Frances on Oct. 8 between the Manitoba Moose and Hamilton Bulldogs.
Tickets for the game, which will be played at the Ice for Kids Arena, will be on sale soon.
The game is intended to be a fundraiser for the two groups, with a few raffles also being planned that evening to raise extra cash.
