Gail Higginson, Vice-President, Academic and Student Services at Confederation College, is pleased to announce former Fort Frances resident Don Lovisa will assume responsibility for the School of Business, Hospitality and Media Arts as academic director (dean).
Lovisa brings formal educational background in business, adult education, and social sciences.
He has a Master’s degree in International Management, a Bachelor’s degree majoring in Sociology, a diploma in Adult Education, and an Association of Municipal Clerks and Treasurers (A) designation.
His professional background includes a broad experience in small business, both as a business advisor and active community member.
For 14 years prior to moving to the Thunder Bay campus in 2002, he served as manager of the Confederation College campus in Fort Frances.
Now in Thunder Bay, Lovisa has joined the City of Thunder Bay’s Economic Development Advisory Board as well as the Business, Retention and Expansion Committee.
This lateral appointment for Lovisa supports the college’s belief in professional development opportunities for staff. This appointment will allow him to contribute his skills to this position while focusing on the college’s strategic vision and priorities.
“I am very pleased to be given the opportunity to lead the School of Business, Hospitality and Media Arts,” said Lovisa.
“We have an excellent range of quality programs, professional faculty and staff that all contribute to the success of our students and graduates.
“I look forward to building on our previous success, partnerships, and generally getting out in the community to meet others,” he added.
