Colonels claim ‘B’ crown in Emo

The local KFC Colonels captured the ‘B’ crown at a PeeWee ‘A’ hockey tournament in Emo last weekend, beating the Fort Frances Lions 4-1 in the final.
Jacob Smith netted a hat trick to lead the Colonels while Timothy Metke got their other goal. Assists went to Justin Anderson, Braedon Keast, Blake Dolph, Christopher Bobczynski, and Brandon Marr.
The Colonels had opened the tournament with a 3-0 win over the Fort Frances Firemen. Smith (two) and Marr got the tallies while Jeffrey Gustafson, Tucker Johnson, and Keast drew assists.
They followed that with a 7-0 loss to the Lake of the Woods Bears (Baudette), but bounced back with a 7-2 win over Kenora Taggs.
Scoring for the Colonels in that one were Gustafson (two), Bobczynski (two), Ryan Lundy, Metke, and Anderson. Keast (three), Andrew Milling, Melanie Scott, Jordan Borden, Marr, Gustafson, Bobczynski, and Dolph all were credited with assists.
Then in the ‘B’ semi-finals, the Colonels blanked the Dryden Red Wings 3-0 on goals by Gustafson, Smith, and Marr. Assists went to Cassandra McLellan and Borden.
