About 15 members of the Rainy River Valley Agricultural Society attended its monthly meeting April 12 in Barwick to discuss the ever-popular fall fair coming up in August in Emo.
Geoff Pierce, who sits on Emo council, was on hand to discuss the idea about making the world’s largest blueberry cake.
This could take place during the annual fall fair in hopes of drawing in more attendance, as well as to help to raise money for an as-yet unnamed project being done by the township.
This project will be announced when it is confirmed that the event will take place.
More information is required from Pierce as to what the needs from the fair board may be and how the event will be run. Hopefully, this information will be available for the next scheduled meeting.
In other news, it was suggested at the meeting about having a king to stand with the fair queen. There is a mini-king and queen, so maybe there also should be a more grown-up king, too.
The bathrooms located on the fair grounds also are an ongoing topic and suggestions are always welcome.
One possibility being looked into is portable bathrooms, but with the growing concerns of the lack of handicapped accessibility, and the conditions of the current bathrooms, the committee is weighing every option.
The group will meet to do an annual inspection of the fairgrounds and stock car oval on May 7 at 1pm. This is done to make sure any repairs may be noted and taken care of.
The fair board’s next scheduled meeting is slated for May 10 at 7:30.
The location will be announced once confirmed (the location is being rotated to different municipalities to ensure everybody has an equal opportunity to attend).
