Talented group

Dear editor:
Mega accolades to everyone involved in the VALA variety show this past Saturday. What a great performance!
I, along with several of my friends, attended the matinee Saturday afternoon at the Townshend Theatre. We thoroughly enjoyed all the entertainment—what a talented group of individuals!
The show opened with a dramatic performance by the local Sea Cadets—so precise and so well-done! What an impressive way to start the show!
I continue to be amazed by the immensity of the talent in this district, and it is great to see both sides of the border come together to put on first-class entertainment.
There are many people behind the scenes who also need to be recognized for the endless hours they put in. So, kudos to everyone—the script writers, the musicians, lights and sound, costume designers, advertising, make-up, the stage crew, and those who were in charge of the garage sale, the quilt sale, ticket sales, “mocktails,” and programs.
A special thank you to choreographer Sherree Denby for another superb show, as well as director “Babs Spielberg” (Barb Duguay), producer “Princess Stephanee” (Kim Redford), and Maria Shriver (Patty Jorgenson), Barbara Walter (Laureen Luchka), and Clacker girl (Robin McCormick).
You kept us all in stitches!
A special than you to Pam Hawley and Paul and Adam Duguay for your clever, creative screenwork, bringing our local businesses and places of interest to “Hollywood North.”
Paul is a film production student at Confederation College while Adam is a motion graphic artist for Global TV and Teletoon.
With gratitude to all the sponsors and people who contributed their time and money to make the show possible—for without you, there would be no show.
In closing, I again would like to congratulate all the performers. I am already looking forward to next year’s VALA production. Thank you for bringing such joy to our district!
Sincerely,
Diane Maxey
