Tickets going fast for Andrusco concert

Now less than two weeks away, organizers are expecting tickets will sell out soon for a concert by singer-pianist Billy Andrusco slated for March 7 at the Townshend Theatre.
“Everything’s going very well. We’re in excess of 300 tickets sold, so we only have 100 left or so,” concert organizer Bill Gushulak said.
“Hype seems to be high,” he added. “We’ve had a real favourable response from the media, and are appreciative of that.
“We’re still expecting a sell-out crowd. The last week or two before the show, there’s always a big push on for tickets,” noted Gushulak. “We’re obviously limited to how many we can sell because there’s only so many seats in the theatre.”
The Townshend Theatre seats 430.
“We’re all excited about it, and are looking forward to a relaxing evening with Billy Andrusco,” noted Gushulak.
Tickets for the concert cost $20 each, which are available at the Fort Frances Curling Club, Fort Frances General Supply, and Sight & Sound.
Proceeds from the concert, which starts at 7:30 p.m., will go to the local curling club.
Gushulak said organizers have confirmed Andrusco will take some time out of his schedule the day before the concert (March 6) to spend time at the Townshend Theatre with local piano-playing youth to answer their questions and tell them what’s it’s like to play music for a profession.
“We’re hoping that will go over really well with the kids,” he said, adding local piano teachers have been notified regarding this special visit on the Monday afternoon.
A Fort Frances native, Andrusco is a multi-talented musician with 40 years of experience playing piano, composing, teaching, performing, and producing.
Whether playing keyboards, saxophone, accordion, or whistling, his versatility is a “panorama of sensitivity, emotion, and love,” according to his website.
When he’s not performing as the resident pianist at the Aerie Resort, located high atop the Malahat mountain range on Vancouver Island about 25 minutes from Victoria, since 1994, he is entertaining on Princess Cruises around the world or on the golf course in Phoenix, Az.
