Rain eases fire hazard

Rain has eased the fire hazard slightly after 11 fires were reported in Fort Frances District over the weekend.
There have been no new fires here since Monday.
The fire hazard in most areas has been downgraded from “extreme” to “high,” with the exception of a pocket near Morson and Nestor Falls, which remains at “extreme.”
But local Fire Management Supervisor Harrold Boven said they expect a drying trend throughout the district going into the weekend.
Local fire crews have spent the week in training exercises, including simulated fires.
The training is to ensure all crew members know what needs to be done in the event of a fire.
