Icebox Radio Theater of International Falls will present an all-new music and drama variety show next Thursday (March 2) at 7:30 p.m. at the Backus Auditorium.
The show—part of a year-long series by the IBRT—will feature vocalist Brittany Hayes and the world premiere of “Between The Pipes,” a play written by IBRT artistic director Jeffrey Adams.
Admission for the evening is $5 (U.S.) for adults, $3 (U.S.) for children under eight, and $20 (U.S.) for families.
The show will be preceded by the “Backus Soup Supper” from 4-7 p.m.
Hayes, 17, has lived in the Fort Frances area all her life. During the past year, she placed third in Emo “Walleyedol” singing contest, sang in “Quest for the Best” in Fort Frances, and was crowned second princess during the Fun in the Sun pageant here.
She also took first place in “Casting Call” during the Falls bass tournament, and performed in the Backus/AB Hurricane Katrina fundraiser.
Hayes is looking forward to traveling to Winnipeg in March to audition for “Canadian Idol,” and hopes to pursue her dream of having a career in the music industry
“Between The Pipes,” like virtually all IBRT productions, is about life in the Northland:
“Danny” is a loser. But unlike most losers, he can trace his fate back to one moment in his life.
As a senior goalie on his high school hockey team, Danny muffed an easy shot with only seconds left in a section playoff game—and cost his team a trip to state.
While his hometown seems to have forgotten the incident, Danny cannot.
Then one night, he meets a mystical spirit who’s willing to give him a second chance. But he must accept this chance on faith—not knowing exactly why or how his life will change.
“Between The Pipes” will feature a cast of actors from the International Falls/Fort Frances area, as well as original music and live sound effects.
