Policy not working

Dear editor:
Please allow me to respond to Jessie Zhang’s study on immigration that was outlined in last Wednesday’s Times.
She states that “most of these immigrants go to our large cities and an actually having a lot of problems.” Now isn’t that a shock!
We think we can attract some of them here, she then states. Ms. Zhang, what will you do with them when they are here? Where are these jobs?
You also mention former Winnipeg mayor Glen Murray has been active in recruiting immigrants. Again, is this not a city, where these people want to be?
Here is a perfect environment, she states. I agree, but you will not keep these people here. Ask Emo where these immigrants are?
I would have to say you surely are not serious when you think these people will come here to farm. Do you have any idea what a farm income is? A recent survey in Saskatchewan indicated that $27,000 was the average income. Take away off-the-farm income and there will be a mass exodus of farmers from the land.
“The last straw”: a lot of immigrants, on average, have a higher education level than Canadian-born residents. Your idea, Ms. Zhang, or a government study?
All you really need to do is watch the “Fifth Estate’s” program on immigration. It is not working!
Do we really need any more taxi drivers in our large cities?!
