The body of Ear Falls resident Geoff McClain, who has been missing since early February, was located Monday in the English River near Highway 804, Red Lake OPP reported late yesterday afternoon.
A post-mortem examination was conducted yesterday at Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora.
Foul play is not suspected, police said.
Members of the Red Lake/Ear Falls OPP detachment, assisted by the North West Region Emergency Response Team, had commenced an extensive search of the English River system around Highway 804 when McClain was first reported missing.
The search had to be called off after several days due to dangerous ice and river conditions, police noted.
Improved conditions permitted officers to re-establish search efforts, leading to McClain’s body being found Monday.
McClain was a former provincial Liberal candidate.
