Auditions for summer play slated

On the heels of a successful three-night dinner theatre run in late February, Fort Frances Theatre already is gearing up for its summer project, “Breaker Calling Cinderella.”
Auditions for the comedy—written by William Gleason and described as a “good, old-fashioned CB love story”—will be held this coming Monday (April 3) from 5-7 p.m. at the Fort Frances Museum.
“It’s a modern-day Cinderella story with a bit of a country flavour to it,” director Cathy Richards said earlier this week. “It should be fun.”
Richards noted she’s looking for three girls and four boys between the ages of 16 and 19, as well as three adult women. She’ll also need a few extras, but figures they won’t be hard to find.
“Breaker Calling Cinderella” will be performed June 16-17 at the Cornell Farm, which is located on La Vallee Road North in La Vallee a kilometre or two from Highway 11/71.
“We just went to the Cornell barn [on Sunday] and it’s all full of hay,” said Richards. “It’s amazing the transition it’s going make for the summertime when they do different events out there.”
In related news, Fort Frances Theatre (formerly known as Fort Frances Little Theatre) recently donated $1,500 to the local museum renovation fund.
This money was raised during the trio of dinner theatre performances of “I Bet Your Life” last month at La Place Rendez-Vous.
