Gagné Pharmacy, located at 375 Scott St.., will open its doors next Friday (April 21) as Shoppers Drug Mart.
Gagné Pharmacy is rich in history in the Fort Frances area, with Walter Gagné opening this store in 1926. With his passing, his son, W.J. (Jack) Gagné, took over.
When Jack retired in 1983, the business was purchased by two local pharmacists, Beverly Brunetta and Nancy Evans.
“We take extreme pride in the customer service and patient care that is provided at this pharmacy,” said Evans.
“And with the same familiar faces, Shoppers Drug Mart will continue to service the prescription and health care needs of Fort Frances and area residents.
“Beverly and I are excited and positive with this change, and look forward to the future with Shoppers Drug Mart,” Evans added.
Shoppers Drug Mart, also known as Pharmaprix in Quebec, is Canada’s largest retail drug store group and is one of the more recognized names in Canadian retailing.
The company’s more than 950 licensed drug stores are located in prime locations in every province and two territories.
