Atikokan’s ‘Hockeyville’ quest goes into overtime

Eight weary hockey fans from Atikokan began the long bus ride home from Kingston last night after hitting a wee pothole on the road to becoming Kraft Hockeyville 2006.
The judges felt we had a very strong entry but had “lost a little bit on the video” and a a result did not Atikokan to move on.
We are used to being the underdog though, and will fight with all we have, to play the game a little longer . . . regardless of the score or where we are in the standings.
This is where the Voyageur spirit in us shines. The challenge to win the hearts of Canada now gives us renewed determination and I have no doubt our community, our neighbours in the Northwest and supporters from the rest of our great country will rally together and vote for Atikokan.
To make it to the playoffs,” we will need our supporters to cast their votes by 10:59 p.m. CDT this Friday in any or all of the following ways:
•You can access the Kraft Hockeyville voting lines though any valid Canadian area code by dialing toll-free 1-888-HKY-2006 (1-888-459-2006).
•You also will be able to vote by e-mail through the CBC Hockeyville website (www.cbchockeyville.ca).
•Or you can text “VOTE” to 111222 and follow the prompts (normal text messaging charges will apply).
Rotary telephones will not work, and voting only is open to those with a Canadian area code.
Please remember that you can only vote once from any e-mail address and once from any phone but you can cast a vote from every active e-mail address or phone number you have, including cell phones.
So as we head into overtime in this game, we ask that you join our team, fight to the end, and help us take Northwestern Ontario to the finals.
The winners will be announced during the first Stanley Cup playoff game this weekend.
